An intermediate product (ME1) for optical recording media is produced before the production of an optical recording medium having a fitting center hole formed at the center and one or more kinds of functional layers formed on the surface for execution of at least one of recording and reproduction of information. The intermediate product has a temporary center hole (TH) smaller than the fitting center hole and formed at the center. With this constitution, resin can be dripped for spin coating at a place near the center of the intermediate product (ME1) without using any disk-like member, and therefore the thickness of the resin coating can be made substantially even.
