PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wavelength multiplexer/demultiplexer system which makes the realization of the loss reduction over the entire part of the system by lessening the loss of connecting portions between an input slab and channel waveguides. SOLUTION: The wavelength multiplexer/demultiplexer system 1A consists of the configuration provided with an input waveguide 2 formed on a substrate 101, the input slab 3, the channel waveguides 4, an output slab 5, and an output waveguide 6. The system is so arranged that the radius r1 of curvature of an arcuate boundary 302 on the output side of the input slab 3 is smaller than the radius r2 of curvature of an arcuate boundary 502 on the input side of the output slab 5 and that the spacing P1 between the channel waveguides in the connecting portions between the input slab 3 and the channel waveguides 4 is made narrower than the spacing P2 between the channel waveguides in the connecting portions between the channel waveguides and the output slab 5.
