PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lightweight roller for rolling which has high rigidity and excellent wear resistance, and in which cracking and chipping are less prone to occur. SOLUTION: Al alloy based composite material obtained by incorporating SiC powder or SiC fiber into an Al alloy is used as the stock for the roller for rolling. Also, the packing ratio of SiC in the roller for rolling is changed in a radical direction so that it is increased in the surface part and is decreased at the inside. Thus, the lightweight roller for rolling in which surface has excellent wear resistance and inside has high fracture toughness can be produced. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
