PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electlyte secondary battery having a safety valve surely operating with a prescribed pressure. SOLUTION: The nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery comprises a supporting plate 12 having a through hole 14 and a nickel film 13 arranged so as to block the through hole. A protrusion part 15 protruded toward the inside of the through hole 14 is formed to one side wall of the through hole 14. It is constructed so that the nickel film 13, swollen by the increase of the inner pressure of the nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery, is broken by a pointed end of 15A of the protrusion part 15.
