PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a user positioned in the inclined direction to a rear type projector to watch a screen with a uniform brightness. SOLUTION: The rear type projector comprises receiving means 2, 3 for receiving a predetermined signal, a position detecting means 7 for detecting position relations of signal generating sources against the projector based on the levels of the signals received by the receiving means 2, 3, and correcting means 9, 10, 11 for correcting brightness in the horizontal scanning directions and/or vertical scanning directions in response to the detected result by the detecting means 7.
