PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ignition timing control device for an internal combustion engine, which suppresses knocking generated by an excessive advance and prevents deterioration of fuel consumption and drivability due to the knocking, by appropriately controlling ignition timing even under a transient condition where an EGR ratio is varied. SOLUTION: Under the transient condition where the cylinder EGR ratio R<SB>C</SB>(n) is controlled following a target EGR ratio R<SB>STD</SB>(R<SB>C</SB>(n)=0-20%), on the basis of ignition timing at EGR time and at non-EGR time calculated from a map, ignition timing SA corresponding to the cylinder EGR ratio R<SB>C</SB>(n) is calculated by linear interpolation. A retard amount OFS set on the basis of the ratio R<SB>C</SB>(n)/R<SB>STD</SB>is subtracted from the calculated ignition timing SA, and ignition retard is performed on the basis of the ignition timing SA obtained by the subtraction.
