<p>A method for securely fitting a safety belt to a reel, without special stitching and without attaching fittings to the belt, has a hollow reel core (12) with a slot and with a round clamping element (22) inside the core. One turn of the belt is wound around the clamping element, through the slot and around the core. Increasing tension on the belt pulls the clamping element against the inside of the hollow core and increases the grip on the belt. The grip is further enhanced by grip profiles on the gripping surfaces. The inside profile of the hollow core, and the outside profile of the clamping element, are non circular to increase the clamping grip.</p> |
