PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and surely record a thumbnail image of a television broadcast program. SOLUTION: A host microcomputer 23 acquires the attributes of a video signal that a user operates an inputting part 22 to input. The user designates a broadcast station, a recording start time, a program genre or a program name on the basis of the attributes. An image size forming part 14 reduces or magnifies the image size of a broadcast program received by a BS tuner 11. A capturing part 15 acquires the image of a frame designated by the host microcomputer 23 as a thumbnail image. A reading/writing part 18 records the thumbnail image compressed by a JPEG encoder 31 on a magneto-optic disk 17. The present invention is applicable to a magneto-optic disk recorder/player.
