[Also in Division A2] Menthol containing microcapsules, used in a cigarette filter, are made by adding menthol to a vigorously agitated solution of a mixture of acid extracted pigskin gelatine and gum arabic at 35‹ C., the resultant mixture being cooled slowly to 25‹ C., and chilled in an ice bath prior to the addition of glutaraldehyde with continued agitation. The formed capsules are then washed with water, stirred in an aqueous solution of trimethyl tallow ammonium chloride and further agitated with the addition of hydrogenated tallow amine acetate prior to vacuum filtering and drying.</p> |
