PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To refine retouched finish by applying retouch fitted to image characteristics. SOLUTION: A high resolution retouch module with standard retouching intensity and a low resolution retouch module with high smoothing intensity are prepared as softwares beforehand. A CPU detects a parameter PT, such as the number of pixels of an image, for specifying output resolution of a digital camera 14 from image data (S120), and determines whether or not the parameter PT indicates high resolution (S130). When the parameter PT is determined to indicate high resolution, the retouch module for high resolution is executed (S200), and when the parameter PT is determined to indicate low resolution, the retouch module for low resolution is executed (S300). Thus, retouched finish can be refined for images shot with a low resolution digital camera as well as for images shot with a high resolution digital camera. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
