The present invention provides a method for treating diseases caused by and/or associated with an altered protein kinase activity which comprises administering to a mammal in need thereof an effective amount of a hydroxyphenyl-pyrazole derivative represented by formula (I): wherein R1 to R4 independently represent hydrogen or halogen atom or a group selected from hydroxy, NO2, C1-C6 alkyl optionally substituted with halogen atom, aryl optionally substituted with halogen atom, aryl C1-C6 alkyl, C3-C7 cycloalkyl, saturated or unsaturated heterocyclyl, C1-C6 alkoxy, aryloxy, aryl C1-C6 alkoxy or NR8R9, wherein R8 and R9 independently represent hydrogen, C1-C6 alkyl, aryl, or a residue of formula COR10, CONHR10 or SO2R10 in which R10 is hydrogen atom or C1-C6 alkyl, aryl, aryl C1-C6 alkyl, C3-C7 cycloalkyl or saturated or unsaturated heterocyclyl group; R7 is a group of formula CONHR1, CSNHR10, SO2R10, COR10 or COOR10, in which R10 is as defined above, and R5 and R6 independently represent hydrogen or a group selected from optionally substituted C1-C6 alkyl, optionally substituted aryl, aryl C1-C6 alkyl, C3-C7 cycloalkyl and saturated or unsaturated heterocyclyl; and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof. The invention also provides compounds of formula I, a library comprising at least two of them, a process for their preparation and the pharmaceutical compositions containing them, which are useful in the treatment of diseases caused by and/or associated with an altered protein kinase activity such as cancer, cell proliferative disorders, viral infections, autoimmune diseases and neurodegenerative disorders.
