PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery excellent in charge and discharge efficiency and preservation characteristics even under high temperatures.

SOLUTION: This nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery is composed of at least a negative electrode containing a heteroelement material capable of occluding and discharging lithium, a positive electrode containing a metallic oxide material capable of occluding and discharging lithium, and an electrolyte obtained by dissolving lithium salt in a nonaqueous solvent. The nonaqueous solvent contains a saturated straight chain carbonate fluoride wherein part of the hydrogen atom of saturated straight chain carbonate is substituted by a fluorine atom by 0.01-5 wt. % of the electrolyte.
