PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To protect a sanitary washing apparatus from operating in a manner unintended by the user due to a difference in the duration of operation between its body and a remote controller. SOLUTION: The sanitary washing apparatus has a volume; a plurality of function selecting switches 1; and a transmission means 10 which, upon operation of the selecting switch 1, transmits a code resulting from the combination of the function of the switch and an additional function selected according to the position of the volume 2 and which, upon operation of the volume 2, transmits a code resulting from only the additional function selected according to the position of the volume. The apparatus is thereby protected from operating in a manner unintended by the user due to a difference in the duration of operation between the body and the remote controller.
