PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode for an electrolytic capacitor whereof the apparent surface area is large, capable of making a large current flow, and excellent in high-frequency characteristics. SOLUTION: In the electrode for an electrolytic capacitor 4 made up of a compact 1 of valve metal powder and a lead made of a valve metal attached thereto, the shape of the lead is made into a foil shape at least at the part in contact with the compact and the thickness of a foil 2 is set to 200μm or less.
