PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating method which coats a work such as a car body held on a movable truck by using a cartridge containing coating material. SOLUTION: The movable truck 2 includes a first cartridge holding part 21 capable of holding a cartridge 4 and a second cartridge holding part 22 capable of holding a cartridge 4 in which the coating material contained therein has been used up. The coating method includes the steps of holding the cartridge 4 containing a coating material on the first cartridge holding part 21 of the movable truck 2, removing the cartridge 4 held on the first cartridge holding part 21 from the first cartridge holding part 21 and further setting the same in a coating apparatus 3, coating the coating material contained in the cartridge 4 set in the coating apparatus 3 onto a work 1 by the coating apparatus 3, holding the cartridge 4, in which the coating material contained therein has been used up, on the second cartridge holding part 22 of the movable truck 2 and removing the cartridge 4 held on the second cartridge holding part 22 from the second cartridge holding part 22.
