PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical scanner which can contribute to the suppression of the deterioration in image quality by suppressing the temperature rise of a polygon mirror and its peripheral portions. SOLUTION: A flow passage 1F of the outdoor air (the air) R is formed by communicatively connecting two cells 1C (an introducing port 1D and an air exit 1H) among a plurality of rib structures 1RG for reinforcement disposed at an optical base 1, and an under surface 131M of a driving substrate 131 for constituting part of the external wall of a housing chamber 130 and for supporting the polygon mirror 30 is exposed to a flow passage 1F (a communicative connection path 1T). Even if a motor disposed at the driving substrate 131 and circuits for the motor generate heat during the rotation of the polygon mirror 30, the driving substrate 131 is directly cooled by the air R flowing in the flow passage 1F and therefore, the temperature rise of the polygon mirror 30 and its peripheral portions is suppressed. As a result, the deterioration of the scanning characteristics of a laser beam by the distortion of a casing due to a temperature difference during the heat generation is suppressed.
