PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inspection device and an inspection method capable of inspecting an internal leak of a stacked-type heat exchanger. SOLUTION: This internal leak inspection device 130 for the stacked-type heat exchanger has a N<SB>2</SB>gas supply device 131 for supplying nitrogen gas as a carrier gas, a pressure regulating valve 132, a flow regulating valve 133, a first solenoid valve 134, a He tank 135 for storing helium as a probe gas, second solenoid valve 136, a He leak detector 137 and a gas recovery device 138, and these are connected by piping 140, 141. An automatic recording device 139 is electrically connected to the He leak detector 137. The heat exchanger 1 is inspected by connecting its coolant inlet part 4 to the piping 140 of the inspection device 130 and by connecting its coolant outlet part 5 to the piping 141 of the inspection device 130.
