Date Jul. 11, 1996The present invention relates to a method and apparatus in connection with measuring the heartbeat rate of a person. In the method, the ECG signal of the person and the timing moment of at least one ECG signal waveform, such as the QRS complex, are measured with a heartbeat rate monitor. The average heartbeat rate frequency of the heartbeat rate is calculated from the ECG signal. Heartbeat rate variation information proportional to the magnitude of the heartbeat rate variation or to that of the total or partial power of a spectrum derived from the heartbeat rate is provided by means of a mathematical function. The heartbeat rate variation information is displayed on the display of the heartbeat rate monitor together with the average heartbeat rate frequency.</p> |
