PURPOSE: A method for re-installing a satellite broadcasting receiving program and a satellite broadcasting receiver for carrying out the method are provided to set a satellite broadcasting receiving program without connection of a separate satellite broadcasting receiver or a computer. CONSTITUTION: It is checked whether or not an auxiliary flash memory is set in a satellite broadcasting receiver when the receiver is provided with power. In the case that the auxiliary flash memory is set in the receiver, a flash memory is accessed to extract flash data stored in the flash memory(S120,S125). It is checked whether or not the flash data has an error. When the flash memory does not have any error, the broadcasting receiver normally operates on the basis of the flash data. In the case that the flash data has an error, the auxiliary flash memory is accessed to extract back-up data stored in the auxiliary flash memory. The back-up data is stored in the flash memory and the normal operation of the receiver is carried out using the back-up data.
