DEVICE FOR CORRECTION OF SET OF TEETH WITH SHAPE MEMORY POLYMER

PURPOSE: A device for correcting set of teeth is provided to memorize ideal shape of set of teeth at a temperature of mouth by comprising shape memory polymer and, when applying the device into the mouth, to restore the memory shape by alteration of the temperature. CONSTITUTION: The device comprises a wire made of shape memory polymers having a glass transition temperature of 35 deg.C to be mounted on slots of a bracket attached to surface of teeth. The wire is produced by fusing powder or pellets of the polymer and forming the fused material into an original shape; applying a pressure to the original shape at or above the glass transition temperature and modifying the compressed shape into a desirable shape; and cooling the modified shape below the glass transition temperature to maintain the modified condition of the shape.
