<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display element in which a symbol for selection and function is easily recognized even sunlight exposure. <P>SOLUTION: The optical display element 10 is provided with the common symbol 3 for selection and function. The light intensity of common light input is agreed with ambient brightness 20 in the brightness mode of the display element and is controlled. The control is done through a PWM (pulse width modulated) signal from a controller 7. The display element 10 consists of a colored synthetic substance. The synthetic substance 5 illuminates the symbol for selection and the symbol 3 for function. The region of the common symbol 3 is removed from a colored coating material 6 provided on the synthetic substance 5. The guide of the light from one light source 1 to the synthetic substance 5 is done through a light conductor 2 in which the light (a) is inputted to the light conductor and is done by the light source 1 present below the synthetic substance 5. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
