<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an electrochemical device excellent in electric characteristics with a mechanical strength and a chemical stability, yet fit for mass production. <P>SOLUTION: Gas diffusion electrodes 12, 13 composed of either a woven or a nonwoven fabric of a metal fiber are provided at either side of a solid polymer electrolyte 14. The gas diffusion electrodes may be of a combination of one or two or more kinds among a mixed-wool woven or nonwoven fabric of metal and organic fibers, a fluorinated metal fiber, one retaining catalyst particles, and a metal fiber plated with another metal. Further, the electrodes may be ones either divided, curved or equipped with a plurality of through-holes, and may be pinched by a collector with elasticity. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
