<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems of heat resistance and mechanical strengths or the like which liquid crystalline acrylate polymers have, though polymers having liquid crystalline groups at side chains are utilized for optical anisotropic films, liquid crystal oriented films, optical recording materials, etc. and these liquid crystalline acrylate polymers have been used for such applications hitherto. <P>SOLUTION: The maleimide derivative is represented by formula (1) (R<SP>1</SP>is hydrogen, fluorine, chlorine, NCO, CF<SB>3</SB>, CF<SB>2</SB>H, OCF<SB>3</SB>, OCF<SB>2</SB>H, a 1-12C alkyl or alkoxy or the like; A<SP>1</SP>to A<SP>3</SP>are each 1-4-cyclohexylene in which arbitrary hydrogen may be substituted with fluorine, 1,4-cyclohexenylene, 1,4-phenylene or the like in which arbitrary hydrogen may be substituted with a halogen; Z<SP>1</SP>to Z<SP>2</SP>are each a single bond, COO, OOC, CF<SB>2</SB>O, OCF<SB>2</SB>, CH<SB>2</SB>O, OCH<SB>2</SB>, CH<SB>2</SB>CH<SB>2</SB>, C≡C or the like; m is 1 or 0; n is an integer of 1 to 20). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
