<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controller for game machines which enables the normal control of variable display without causing troubles even when control boards receive no pattern stopping command while the variable display reaches the timing of ending it. <P>SOLUTION: When a control board for display receives no pattern stopping command even when the variable display reaches the timing of ending it as indicated by the varying pattern indication command, the control board for display cannot end the variable display. In this case, the control board for display continues display of the stop pattern indicated by the stop pattern indication command back and forth in display areas 3a1 to 3c3 making it move in a so-called mobile display of lateral freely swing until receiving the pattern stopping command from the main control board.
