PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium wherein printing on the reverse side is less, electromagnetic conversion characteristics are good, preservable properties are high, and the high density recording of good running durability is carried out. SOLUTION: This magnetic recording medium is provided with a magnetic layer on one surface of a flexible support, and a back layer on the opposite surface thereof. In this case, the back layer contains nonmagnetic inorganic particles A having a needle ratio of 3 to 15 and carbon blacks having an average particle diameter of 10 to 50 nm by A/B=60/40 to 90/10 (mass ratio), and the glass transition point Tg of the back layer is 80 to 140°C.
