PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce image degradation to be caused by a time difference when the time difference is brought about in recording images because of the stagnation of data in the middle of the image recording, in the case where the image recording is carried out with the use of data transferred from a host computer. SOLUTION: When the transfer of data frames from the host computer is delayed, a sequence control unit 203 judges that generating printing data is behind the time to cause a time delay in the image recording. A data processor 201 separates the data frame DF transmitted immediately before the occurrence of the time delay to an overlapping data c and the other data a, and separates the overlapping data c to two overlapping data c<SB>1</SB>and c<SB>2</SB>. After taken out of the data frame DF and held in an overlapping data hold part 205, the data c<SB>2</SB>is added to a head part of the first data frame DI transmitted after the occurrence of the time delay. The image degradation is thus reduced by carrying out a part (c<SB>2</SB>) of the image recording before the occurrence of the time delay, after the time delay. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
