PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cyclic ether that can remove salt components in aqueous solutions or an organic solvent solution through simple operation to prepare a large amount of desalted solvent inexpensively, and is useful as an optical resolution agent or an asymmetric reaction reagent having high generality independent from molecular structure of the racemic isomer. SOLUTION: The optically active cyclic ether that is represented by formula [1] can readily remove salt components in an aqueous solution or an organic solvent solution through simple operation to inexpensively prepare a large amount of desalted solvent. Further, the cyclic ether is useful as an optical resolution agent or an asymmetric reaction reagent having high generality independent from the molecular structure of the racemic isomer.
