<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving method for a light emitting device for reducing deterioration due to aging of a light emitting element. <P>SOLUTION: In the driving method for the light emitting device, a plurality of pixels are provided, where the pixels have a light emitting means having first and second electrodes; a drive means for supplying current according to an analog video signal to the light emitting means; and a means for setting a sustaining period and an off time period during a unit frame period. Then, the current according to the analog video signal is supplied to the light emitting means in the sustaining period, the light emitting means is prevented from emitting light by turning off the drive means, or the light emitting means is prevented from emitting light, by setting the potential of the first electrode and that of the second electrode to be identical. With this configuration, deterioration due to aging in the light emitting element can be reduced by providing a non-display period. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
