METHOD FOR REMOTE CONTROL OF MENU OF PICTURE APPARATUS FOR EXTERNAL COUPLING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for remote control which displays a menu picture for various operation and function selection of an external apparatus connected through an IEEE1394 interface on a digital television set and requests to the external apparatus from a displayed menu.

SOLUTION: When requesting the menu to the external apparatus connected through the common connection bus of a user, the menu picture consisting of a basic item for selecting a function or operation stored in the external apparatus and an item for requesting a detailed menu picture provided by the external apparatus is displayed. When the basic item is selected from the displayed menu, a command corresponding to it is constituted and transmitted to the external apparatus to carry out the function or operation. When the item for requesting the detailed menu picture is selected on the menu picture, the menu picture corresponding to the external apparatus is requested and thereafter this is received and picture-displayed.
