<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an infrared analysis in which the thickness of an infrared analytic sample can be measured accurately while shortening the total time required for analysis. <P>SOLUTION: Samples of different thickness are prepared using a copolymer A<SB>i</SB>and at least one kind of homopolymer B<SB>i</SB>constituting the copolymer A<SB>i</SB>, and the thickness of each sample is measured by means of a thickness gauge. Infrared wave number range correlated with the thickness of sample and the infrared absorption area of the infrared wave number range are then determined from an infrared absorption spectrum obtained by infrared analysis. Subsequently, correlation between the thickness of sample and the infrared absorption area is determined by functional approximation and the thickness of an infrared analytic sample is calculated using that correlation. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
