PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an industrially advantageous method for producing a sphingolipid derivative by which the high-purity sphingolipid derivative can artificially be synthesized in high yield. SOLUTION: The method for producing the sphingolipid derivative represented by general formula (I) is carried out as follows. A compound having a triisopropylsilyl group is introduced into a compound represented by general formula (II) to provide a compound represented by general formula (III) in which a secondary hydroxy group thereof is protected. The resultant compound is then reacted with a phosphorus-containing compound or a sugar-containing compound to afford a compound represented by general formula (IV). The secondary hydroxy group of the resultant compound is then deprotected to provide the sphingolipid derivative. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
