A multimedia-data files-playback device has a digital interface to a mass-data carrier (CD-ROM etc), a multimedia-data files read-device enabling the multimedia data files and the register structure to be read via the digital-interface, an intermediate (temporary) store, a text-to-voice conversion device for converting the text data held in the register into a voice signal, first and second selection devices for selecting elements of the register structure and the multimedia data files to be outputted, respectively, a conversion device for converting multimedia data into an output signal, and an output interface for the voice signal. An independent claim is included for a car radio with multimedia playback device.
