A liquid-cooled automotive motor has a cooling system with a pipe incorporating a coolant pump. The pump has a housing (1) around an impeller (10) and motor (5) which are in-line with the direction of flow. The motor (5) is located within a watertight housing (4) which is connected by vanes struts (6) to the inner face of the coolant pipe and which traverse the surrounding coolant passage (3). One of the struts acts as a conduit for the electric power to the motor.
