The method involves digital evaluation of the periodic duration and/or analog detection of the opening cross-section and/or of the periodic duration of the valve for opening or closing of the valve by an elastic plate (2). The position of the plate is determined by closing and/or opening an electric circuit. The position of the plate can be determined by the use of a capacitive effect. An independent claim is also included for the following: (a) an exhaust gas feedback valve.
