PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize an image pickup lens consisting of two lenses and having excellent image-formation performance. SOLUTION: The image pickup lens is constituted of a homogeneous lens having negative refractive power and a radial type refractive index distribution lens having positive refractive power, and both surfaces of the radial type refractive index distribution lens are plane, and one part or all of the surface of the homogeneous lens on the radial type refractive index distribution lens side is plane. By satisfying a condition (1/V<SB>10</SB><1/ν<SB>h</SB>), excellent optical performance is obtained with a small number of lenses. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
