<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for selecting an object displayed on a display screen by posing a cursor controlled by a pointing device at the object for a longer time than a dwell time threshold, a device, and a medium carrying signals thereon. <P>SOLUTION: In this method for selecting the object by posing the cursor controlled by the pointing device at the object displayed on the display screen for the longer time than the dwell time threshold, the device, and the signal carried medium, the dwell time threshold is regulated based on the density of the object displayed on the screen. Accordingly, if the density of the object is high, the dwell time is increased, and to select a desired object, users must maintain the cursor at the desired object for a long time.
