PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophoretic display device which maintains a stable picture state by suppressing flocculation of charged electrophoretic particles and adhesion of the particles to electrode surfaces and to inner wall surfaces. SOLUTION: The electrophoretic display device has a pair of substrates 3a, 3b, electrodes 4a, 4b formed on the substrate, a dispersion medium 2 held between the substrates and the charged electrophoretic particles 1 dispersed in the dispersion medium 2. An ethylene-acrylate-based copolymer and/or a styrene-based copolymer are contained in the dispersion medium 2, wherein the content of the ethylene-acrylate-based copolymer is in the range of 0.0001 to 1 pts.wt. per 100 pts.wt. of the dispersion medium and the content of the styrene-based copolymer is in the range of 0.0001 to 3 pts.wt. per 100 pts.wt. of the dispersion medium.
