A method of producing an acoustically insulating structure comprises attaching a sheet of acoustically insulating material, such as agglomerated cork to a support and subsequently applying a surface covering comprising slabs or tiles of stoneware, ceramic or similar material the tiles or slabs being applied with the aid of an hydraulic cement mortar containing additives, such as methylcellulose and polyvinyl alcohol, which reduce the minimum thickness in which the mortar can be applied, the mortar being applied to the sheet of acoustically insulating material, after an undercoating comprising an alkali-resistant synthetic rubber latex, such as neoprene, has been applied to that sheet.</p> |
