<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a collagenase inhibitor containing a specific plant extract as an active ingredient, to provide a periodontal disease medicine which utilizes a collagenase-inhibiting action or the collagenase-inhibiting action and an antibacterial action against bacteria causing the periodontal disease, and to provide a composition for oral cavities. <P>SOLUTION: This collagenase inhibitor contains the extract of at least one plant selected from the group consisting of Pulai, Pinang, Gambir, Kapulagae, Jintan Puluh, Jintan Ikeng, Pulasari, Teki, Jaha, Cengkeh, Bratawali, Cabe Jawa, Telor Kodok, Gaxiti, Pucuk, Temu-lawak, Bang Palo Anting, Masoyi, Kalabet, Gandapura, Hoos, Bengle, Temu-Giring, Lerak, Temu Hitam, Kayu Lanang, Kayu Anyang, Daun Sembung, and Daun Sirih (all of the above-described names are Indonesian names) as an active ingredient. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
