PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide steel for a bottom plate of a crude oil tank by which localized corrosion can be prevented. SOLUTION: The steel has a composition which consists of 0.001 to 0.20% C, 0.10 to 0.40% Si, 0.5 to 2.0% Mn,≤0.020% P,≤0.010% S, 0.01 to 0.50% Al, 0.50 to 1.50% or 2.5 to 6.0% Cr, <0.10% Cu, <0.10% Ni, <0.10% Mo and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities and in which the total content of Cu, Ni and Mo is regulated to≤0.20%. Further, one or more kinds selected from≤0.2% Ti,≤0.2% Nb,≤0.2% V and≤0.005% B and/or one or more kinds selected from≤0.2% Zr,≤0.006% Ca and≤0.006% REM can be incorporated. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
