An oil spill recovery vessel has a hull which is essentially flat in head-on presentation and has a rising keep and prow as seen from abeam. The hull esp. has an oil-collection bunker with a lower cover plate projecting below the keel at the leading edge, and open to the sea at the rear. In forward motion the bunker inlet flow generates a vortex to drive trapped oil particles to the surface.
