METHOD FOR CONTROLLING PLAYBACK OF DVD TITLE USING IDENTITY CERTIFICATE

PURPOSE: A method for controlling playback of a DVD(Digital Video Disk) title using an identity certificate is provided to selectively prevent a viewer from seeing a constant scene in the DVD title, which is sold without an edited or an expurgated scene, by controlling the playback of the DVD title with the attribute information in a right certificate. CONSTITUTION: It is judged that the right identity certificate exists(405). If the right identity certificate exists, the DVD title is played according to the right by extracting the right and a public key(413). If not, the identity certificate and a UPC(Universal Product Code) key are presented to a certification server(407). The certification server transmits the valid identity certificate and the public key information of each DVD title(409). The right certificate is generated by extracting the identity certificate and the public key of each DVD title(411). The DVD title is played according to the right of the right certificate and the public key(413).
