PURPOSE: An apparatus for controlling the reversible lane alarm of a vehicle navigation system and a method for the same are provided to inform the driver of the status of the forward reversible lane in the current driving direction previously. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for controlling the reversible lane alarm of a vehicle navigation system includes a camera(120), a controller(130) and a display unit(140). The camera(120) take a photograph of the driving lane of the car. The controller(130) determines whether the driving lane is available lane of not by comparing the driving lane with the driving lane data inputted from the camera(120) and the GPS and displays the determined results. And, the display unit(140) displays the status of lane on which the current car is driven in response to the input of the display control signal supplied from the controller(130).
