In order to give legal validity to the receipt of alphanumeric or binary messages they are received by a server which adds a time and date, an electronic signature and a message. The original message and the additions are then sent to the destination in the same form and using the same means. The message might be commercial or other types of publicity and may or may not include the time and date.
