Compounds of the Formula I wherein each of X and Y represent hydrogen, chlorine or bromine atoms or C1- 3 alkyoxy radicals, Z represents a sulphur or oxygen atom, R1 represents a hydrogen atom or a methyl radical, R2 represents a hydrogen atom or a C1- 4 alkyl radical and R3 represents a hydrogen atom or a C1- 4 alkyl radical or R2 and R3 together with the adjacent nitrogen and, optionally, with the inclusion of oxygen having two separate bonds, an imino, C1- 5 alkylimino, C1- 5 hydroxyalkylimino group or an alkanoyloxy alkylimino group of up to 8 carbon atoms as ring member, represent a saturated heterocyclic radical of 5 to 7 ring members, are prepared by reacting compounds of the Formula II with at least double the molar amount of compounds of the formula HNR2R3 or at least double the molar amount of metal compounds of N-acyl derivatives of C1-4 alkylamines, if necessary hydrolysing the reaction products to split off any acyl radicals which may be bound to the nitrogen atom in the side chain, if desired treating a resulting compound of the Formula I containing an imino group as ring member with a C1- 5 alkylene oxide, a reactive mono-ester of a C1- 5 alkane diol or a reactive-ester of an alkanoyloxyalkanol of up to 8 carbon atoms, if desired acylating a compound of the Formula I having a C1- 5 hydroxyalkylimino group as ring member to form a compound having an alkanoyloxyalkylimino group of up to 8 carbon atoms, and, if desired, converting any resulting free base into an acid addition salt thereof with an inorganic or organic acid. <FORM:1080979/C2/1> <FORM:1080979/C2/2> <FORM:1080979/C2/3> <FORM:1080979/C2/4> and <FORM:1080979/C2/5> Thiepins and oxepins of the Formula II may be prepared by reacting the appropriate dibenzo[b,f]thiepin(or oxepin)-10(11H)ione with a metal-methyl or ethyl derivative to give a hydroxy compound of the Formula V, splitting of water and reacting the resulting alkylidene compound of the Formula VI with bromine.
