A gate management method for use in a gate management system (1) comprising a gate device (2) installed at a vehicle entrance to a predetermined area and a gate management server (10) managing entering/ exiting of a passing vehicle. When a vehicle passes through the gate device, bar code information displayed on a terminal moving with the vehicle is read and, based on the bar code information that has been read, whether or not the vehicle is allowed to pass through is determined.
