A small, light-weight fuel cell having a high output density being employed in a portable apparatus. A fuel pole-side current collector (421) (or an oxidizing agent-side current collector (423)) is rendered thin and light-weight by bonding it to the base body (104) (or the base body (110)) of the fuel pole (102) (or the oxidizing agent pole (08)) of a fuel cell (100), thus realizing a structure requiring no end plate nor fastener. Fuel or oxidizing agent is supplied directly on to the surface of the fuel pole-side current collector (421) or the oxidizing agent-side current collector (423).
