PURPOSE: A position recognition apparatus is provided to simplify the configuration of the apparatus and reduce costs, while achieving improved accuracy of recognition of parts. CONSTITUTION: A position recognition apparatus(100) comprises a head unit(110) including a vacuum adsorbing nozzle(120) for vacuum adsorbing parts, a side light source(130) for radiating light to the side surface of the adsorbed parts, a shadow detection member(140) for detecting the lateral shadow of parts, and a rear lighting(160) arranged above the vacuum adsorbing nozzle so as to radiate light onto the top surface of the parts; an image recognition camera(190) arranged underneath the head unit so as to photograph the bottom surface of the parts; and a front lighting(180) arranged at the image recognition camera side so as to radiate light onto the bottom surface of the parts.
