PURPOSE: A method is provided to achieve improved start ability of electric vehicle by permitting the controller of the vehicle to increase a torque current when the vehicle starts. CONSTITUTION: A method comprises a step of calculating a torque value(Te) of a drive motor; a step of calculating an estimated inertia value(J) of the drive motor; a step of calculating a compensating current value(lFF); a step of calculating a new current command value(l*new) obtained by adding the compensating current value and the existing current command value(l*); and a step of performing a drive force control operation for the drive motor in accordance with the new current command value.
