METHOD OF DESIZING WOVEN TEXTILES AND A USE OF THE EFFLUENT STREAM AS AGRICULTURAL ADDITIVE

A method of removing size material from a woven loomstate fabric, which method includes: a) impregnating the fabric with water and/or a mixture of water and at least one surfactant; b) heating the impregnated fabric to a swelling temperature such that the size on the fabric swells; c) washing the fabric with water to permit transfer of size from the fabric to the water; d) controlling the inflow of clean water to permit cleansing of the fabric whilst controlling the outflow of an effluent stream containing soil obtained from the fabric so as to produce an effluent stream having a predetermined concentration of soil material in the effluent stream. The effluent stream is particularly suitable for use as an agricultural additive.
